Gajithra Navan, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Amman, met with the Chairman of the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA), Mr. Ayman Alawneh, on 29 June 2026 to discuss ways to further strengthen economic relations and explore new avenues of cooperation between Sri Lanka and Jordan.
The meeting focused on renewing the agreement on the establishment of the Joint Jordanian–Sri Lankan Business Council in collaboration with the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE). The discussions also covered enhancing business-to-business cooperation and promoting bilateral trade and investment.
During the meeting, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Navan invited the members of the Jordanian Businessmen Association to participate in EXPO 2027, scheduled to be held from 14 to 17 January 2027 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo. Chargé d’Affaires a.i. highlighted the exhibition as one of the largest international business events to be held in Sri Lanka in recent years.
