Sri Lanka - Jordan Trade Relations

The strategic location of Sri Lanka has attracted many countries, including Jordan, and has created great opportunities in the spheres of trade. The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jordan has initiated an action plan to increase tourism, investment, cultural ties, people-to-people contacts, and trade volume in the upcoming years to benefit people and the business community in both countries.

Sri Lanka and Jordan signed a new bilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement on 18th May 2007, replacing the Trade Agreement that was concluded in 1965, in order to promote trade between both countries.

An agreement for the Establishment of Joint Business Council was signed between the Jordan Businessmen Association and National Chambers of Exports of Sri Lanka in 2021, which has added to efforts of the Embassy’s initiatives to enhance trade and investment.

Jordan is the 22nd export destination for Sri Lanka. Total export value from Sri Lanka to Jordan was USD 72.93 million in 2024, and total imports from Jordan to Sri Lanka for the same period were USD 6.93 million. Jordan is the 60th import origin for Sri Lanka in 2024.

Sri Lanka’s exports to Jordan have decreased by 15% in 2024 when compared to the year 2023. Imports from Jordan have largely increased in 2024 when compared to the year 2023.

Sri Lanka’s main export products to Jordan are Knitted Fabrics, Tea Packets, Woven Fabrics, Other Textile Articles, Telephone Sets, Audio/Video Equipment & Parts, Desiccated Coconut, Buttons, Studs, Fasteners & Similar Products, Prefabricated Buildings, Tea Bags, and Coconut Milk Powder. Sri Lanka’s main import products from Jordan are Products of Base Metal, Fertilizers, Knitted Fabrics, Other Mineral Products, Products of Plastics, Yarn, Other Chemical Products, Woven Fabrics, Inorganic Chemicals, and Men’s Outerwear.
